Description:
Ramon Crater, the world's biggest karst crater, is located in the heart of Israel's Negev Desert.
40 kilometers long and 2 to 10 kilometers wide, the Ramon Crater is shaped like an elongated heart. The only settlement in the area is the small town of Mitzpe Ramon located on the northern edge of the crater. The name Ramon comes from the Arabic word Romans, probably linked to an ancient trading route once used by the Roman Empire.
