Description:
Jezreel Valley, the largest agricultural land in Israel today, was mentioned in the bible as a border between three tribes - Zevulun, Menashe, and Yissachar. It was also a Valley where few wars took place in biblical times. In the Second Temple days, urban and rural settlements flourished in this region.
In the 2nd and 3rd centuries, the Mishnaic and Talmudic periods, in the ruling days of the Romans, the Valley was a vibrant Jewish region with technologically advanced agriculture. At that time the Sanhedrin, headed by Rabbi Yehuda Hanassi, resided in Beit She'arim.
